AT THE CASTLE

King Stefan and King Hubert were talking.

Stefan: No sign of her yet.

Hubert was very cheerful. He was eating all the time.

Hubert: Of course not. We have half an hour till sunset.

He sees that Stefan was worried.

Hubert: Oh now, come on, wake up, battle’s over, girl’s almost here.

Stefan: I am sorry Hubert. After waiting for her for sixteen years…

Hubert: Stop worrying about it. It is all in the past.

Hubert claps his hands. The servant arrives with a bottle of wine.

Hubert: Tonight, we toast to future

He filled two glasses with wine.

Hubert: Here, to the future!

Stefan: Right, Hubert, to the future!

Now they were both happy and began singing.

Our children will marry

Our kingdoms unite

Hubert: Let’s drink to the new home. It is bigger than a palace in Rome.

Stefan: New home?

Hubert: Yes, our children will need a new nest. Here are the plans: Well, what do you think?  It is not very big, of course. (www.bebekce.gen.tr) Forty bedrooms, Dining hall.

Stefan: Are you building it?

Hubert: I have already built it. It is ready. Now, let’s drink to the wedding.

Stefan: Wedding? Aurora knows nothing about this. It may come as a shock to her.

Hubert (angry): Shock? My son Philip a shock? Your daughter doesn’t want my son? Then my son doesn’t want your daughter. And my grandchildren don’t want you for a grandfather.

Then Hubert grabbed a fish and wielded it like a sword. Stefan grabbed a tray to defend himself. He used the tray like a shield. The two kings played like children for a while. Then they started laughing.
Hubert: I am sure the children will fall in love with each other.

Then Prince Philip was announced. Hubert ran down to meet him.

Hubert: Hurry boy. Change into something suitable. You can’t meet your bride in these clothes.

Phillip: Well, I have met her, father.

Hubert: You met Princess Aurora?

Philip: No. She was a peasant girl.

Hubert: A peasant g-g-girl? You’re going to marry a … Why Phillip, you’re joking! You’re a prince, and you’re going to marry a princess!

Phillip: Now father, you’re living in the past. This is the fourteenth century. Nowadays …

Hubert: Nowadays I’m still the king, and I command you to come to your senses.

Phillip: … and marry the girl I love.

Hubert: Exactly!

Phillip: Goodbye, father!

He rode off.

Hubert: Goodbye, father! Marry the girl you … No, no, Phillip, stop, come back, hold Phillip! Phillip! Oh, how will I ever tell Stefan?

The fairies and Aurora went to the castle. They went into a room secretly.

Flora: Lock the door, Merryweather! Fauna, pull the drapes! We have one last gift for you, dear child. It is the symbol of your royalty. (www.bebekce.gen.tr)  It is your right and duty to wear it.

The fairies set the crown on her head. Aurora began to weep again.

Then the fairies left the room. They saw that Aurora was unhappy and they wanted to discuss this problem.

Merryweather: I don’t see why she has to marry any old prince.

Fauna: Now, that’s not for us to decide, dear.

Inside Aurora’s room, a green ball of light appeared. Aurora saw it and walked toward the light. Then a door was opened through the fireplace. The light went through the door and upstairs. Aurora followed the light. She was hypnotized. The fairies were still outside the room. Then Flora heard a sound and she understood that Maleficent was there. They ran into the room. They saw Aurora going through the door. They called her but she didn’t hear them. They followed her but the fireplace wall reappeared, that is, the door disappeared. The fairies couldn’t follow Aurora anymore. Then they used a magic and opened the door. But there were multiple ways on the other side and they didn’t know which one to follow. They started looking for her. All this while, Aurora was walking upstairs after the green ball of light. Then the ball of light turned into a spinning wheel; it stood before her. She walked toward the spinning wheel. She was going to touch it. The fairies cried: “Don’t touch anything”. Aurora stopped for a moment. But she heard Maleficent who said, “Touch the spindle!”

And Aurora touched the spinning wheel!

Then the fairies found her but it was too late.

Maleficent: You poor simple fools. Thinking you could defeat me. I am the mistress of all evil. Well, here’s your precious princess.

The fairies saw that Aurora was lying on the ground. Then Maleficent disappeared, laughing.

Flora: Oh Rose! Oh, I’ll never forgive myself.

Fauna: We’re all to blame!
