Parts III-IV Metin
Many sad and lonely years passed by for the king and the queen. But as the princess’s sixteenth birthday was near, they began to feel happier because soon they would meet their beautiful daughter.
By the way, Maleficent was very angry because she had not found the princess. She was shouting at her servant:
Maleficent: Have you searched everywhere?
Servants: Yeah (=yes)
Maleficent: Have you searched towns, mountains, forests?
Servants: Yeah, we searched for her in every cradle.
Maleficent (surprised): Cradle?
She turned to her pet raven,
Maleficent: Did you hear that my pet? All these years, they’ve been looking for a baby! Ha ha ha ha.
Her servants, who didn’t understand why she was laughing, joined her laughter. But now she was very angry:
Maleficent: Fools! Idiots! Imbeciles!
The servants disappeared. Now she turned to the raven again;
Maleficent: My pet, you are my last hope. Circle far and wide, search for a girl of sixteen with hair of sunshine gold and lips red as the rose. Go, and do not fail.
Then the pet raven flew away.

So, for sixteen years no one knew where the princess was. The three good fairies lived deep in the forest with the princess. (www.bebekce.gen.tr) They protected her from all dangers. They didn’t use magic. They lived like mortals. They brought up the princess. They called her Briar Rose. She didn’t know her real name. She didn’t know that she was a princess, either.
Now it was her sixteenth birthday. The three good fairies planned a party. They wanted to surprise the princess. While they were talking about the dress, Aurora walked in.
Aurora: What are you up to? (=what are you doing here?)
Fairies: Up to? Well. We want you to pick some berries.
Aurora: What are you up to? (=what are you doing here?)
Fairies: Up to? Well. We want you to pick some berries.
Aurora: Berries?
Fairies: Yes, go and pick lots of berries.
They pushed her out of the house.
Flora: Don’t hurry.
Merryweather: Don’t go too far.
Flora: Don’t speak to strangers.
The fairies closed the door and got back inside the cottage. They would make a beautiful dress for Aurora and a delicious birthday cake.
Merryweather: I’ll (=I will) get the magic wands.
Flora: No magic! If we use magic, Maleficent may find us. We will take no chances.
Now Fauna was making the cake and Flora and Merryweather were making the dress. But they were very clumsy. After a while, they understood that they couldn’t finish their work. So they decided to use their magic wands.
*************
Aurora was walking and singing in the forest. Birds were singing with her and other animals were walking with her. Philip (the prince) was riding his horse in the forest. He heard Aurora’s song. He rode towards her. (www.bebekce.gen.tr) Aurora was speaking to the animals.
Aurora: They still treat me like a child.
Animals: Who?
Aurora: Fauna, Flora and Merryweather. They never want me to meet anyone. But I fooled them.
Animals: Fooled them? How?
Aurora: I met someone. It’s a prince. He is tall and handsome. We walked together. We talked together. And then…
Animals: And then?
Aurora: And then I woke up. It was just (=only) a dream.
Aurora: Yes, it’s only in my dreams. But they say if you dream a thing more than once, it will come true. And I’ve seen him so many times!
Then the prince (Philip) found her. She didn’t want to talk to him because he was a stranger. The fairies had told her not to talk to strangers.
Philip: Don’t be afraid. We met before in a dream
Aurora: I must go.
Philip: When will I see you again?
Aurora: This evening. At the cottage.

Now the fairies would use their magic wands.
Flora: Careful, Merryweather! Quick, lock the doors. Flora, you close the windows.
Then the wands started the work. Soon the room was cleaned, the cake was baked and the dress was ready. But Merryweather didn’t like the color of the dress.
Merryweather: Oh no, not pink. Make it blue.
And she made it blue with her wand. But Flora didn’t like blue. She made it pink again. Then the two fairies started a fight over the color of the dress. They made it blue and pink in turns. However, blazes of color went up through the chimney and Maleficent’s raven saw it. Suddenly the fairies heard Aurora singing. She was coming. They stopped fighting and hid. Aurora entered. After Aurora, the raven appeared at the door. It was watching the house secretly. Aurora couldn’t see the fairies.
Aurora: Flora, Fauna, Merryweather! Where is everybody?
Then she saw the cake and the dress. The fairies suddenly appeared.
Fairies: Surprise, surprise! Happy birthday!
Aurora: Oh you darlings, this is the happiest day of my life. Everything’s so wonderful, just wait till you meet him.
Fauna: Him?
Flora: You have met a stranger?
Aurora: He is not a stranger. We met before.
Merryweather: Where?
Aurora: In a dream.
Then she started singing and dancing. The fairies looked anxious.
Fauna: She is in love.
Flora: That’s terrible (=very bad)!
Aurora (surprised): Why? I am sixteen years old.
Fauna: But you are already betrothed (=engaged).
Aurora: Betrothed?
Merryweather: Yes. You were betrothed to a prince when you were born.
Aurora: A prince? But that is impossible. I am not a princess.
Fauna: You are.
Flora: You are Princess Aurora. Tonight, we’re taking you back to your father, King Stefan.
The raven heard that she was Princess Aurora and flew back to Maleficent.
Aurora: But, but I can’t! He’s coming here tonight, I promised to meet him.
Flora: I’m sorry, child, but you must never see that young man again.
Aurora: Oh, no. I can’t believe it!
Aurora was very sad. She was crying. She ran upstairs to her room.
