Possessive Pronouns (Aitlik Zamirleri)

Aitlik zamirleri şunlardır:

• mine
  • This is not your car; it is mine! =Bu araba senin değil, benim!
• yours
  • Oh, I am sorry; it is yours. I got confused. = Ah pardon, seninkiymiş. Karıştırdım.
• his
  • You know Leonardo di Caprio? This painting is his. = Leonardo di Caprio’yu tanıyor musun? Bu araba onun.
• hers
  • This is Ayla’s bag. Yes, I am sure it is hers. = Bu çanta Ayla’nın. Evet, onun olduğuna eminim.
• its
  • I eat my food; the dog eats its. = Ben benim yemeğimi yerim, köpek de kendininkini (onunkini).
• ours
  • This is not your classroom; it is ours. = Bu sizin sınıf değil, bizimki.
• theirs
  • We saved our money; they spent theirs. = Biz paramızı biriktirdik; onlar kendilerininkini (onlarınkini) harcadı.

Aitlik sıfatlarının aksine bu kelimeler kendi başlarına kullanılır; yanlarına bir isim gerekmez. Çünkü zamirdirler yani zaten bir ismin yerine kullanılırlar. Hatta yanına temsil ettiği ismi koyarsak yanlış yapmış oluruz.

• Aitlik Zamirleri Testi (possessive pronouns)

Reflexive pronoun (myself, himself)

Reflexive pronoun, zamirdir. Kendim, kendin, kendisi vb. anlamlarına gelir. Cümlenin öznesi ve nesnesi aynı ise nesne olarak işte bu zamirlerden uygun olanı kullanılır.
Örnek: I love myself = Ben kendimi seviyorum. Burada özne “ben”, nesne de “ben”. Yani seven de sevilen de aynı kişi. Bu yüzden “me” değil de “myself” kelimesi kullanılmış.
Örnek: He is talking about himself = Kendinden bahsediyor.

Bu kelimelerin bir başka görevi de vurgudur, işi yapanı yani özneyi vurgulamaktır.
Örnek: I have done it myself = Bunu ben kendim yaptım. Bu cümleyi söyleyen kişinin ödevini fazla güzel yaptığı için öğretmenin şüpheli bakışlarına mazur kalan bir öğrenci olduğunu düşünebiliriz. Ödevi yardım almadan tamamen ve bizzat kendisinin yaptığını vurgulamak için “myself” diyor.

Karışıklık olmaması için küçük bir tabloyla bu zamirleri gösterelim:

Kazım: Which t-shirt do you like? = Hangi tişörtü istersiniz?
Osman: The red one. = Kırmızı olanı.

Cemil: What kind of people come to this club? = Bu kulübe ne tür insanlar gelir?
Mehmet: The rich ones = Zengin olanlar.

Mustafa: Which one is your car? = Hangisi senin araban?
Arif: The one with the broken winshield = Ön camı kırık olan.

Ali: That is my brother? = Şu benim kardeşim.
Veli: Which one? = Hangisi?
Ali: The one standing next to the teacher. = Öğretmenin yanında duran.

Bu örneklerde görüldüğü gibi “one” kelimesi zamir olarak kullanılır, yani isimlerin yerine kullanılır.

Akif’s Unusual Day

Akif is a student. Usually he gets up at 7:00 am. Then he goes to school at 7:30 am. But yesterday he got up at 9:00 am because he was ill. He didn’t go to school. He had breakfast.

Her cümlede özne+fiil+nesne yapısını görerek okuyun.

Then he wanted to watch TV but his mother was angry with him. She said, “Go to bed, idiot, you must have a rest!”. Akif understood her and went to bed. When he got up, it was getting dark. He got confused. He thought it was the morning but it was the evening. He put on his school uniform. He went to the kitchen. His mother wasn’t there (she had gone shopping). He thought she was sleeping. He ate some bread and cheese and went to school. When he got to school, it was 7:30 pm but Akif thought it was 7:30 am. He was surprised because there weren’t any students in the school. The door of the school was closed and locked. He was more surprised when he realized that it was getting darker, not lighter. (www.bebekce.gen.tr) While thinking of what to do, he met his classmate Harun, who was passing by. Akif saw that he wasn’t wearing school uniform.

Akif said, “Hi, Harun. Where is everybody? Why aren’t you wearing uniform? The teachers will be angry with you.”

Harun said, “ Akif, what are you doing in your uniform? Why are you here in the evening? Are you crazy?”

Then, Akif understood. He had mistaken the evening for the morning. He went back home quickly. His mother met him at the door. “Where have you been?” she said.  “I am sorry mother. I thought it was the morning though it is the evening.” he said. Then they had dinner, and Akif went to bed again.
